CVH Foundation News:
2005 Success Inspires for 2006
By Joan Miles

For most of us, "health care crisis" has become an all too familiar phrase. In some way or another, we are all affected by the challenges facing health care systems.
Unfortunately, government reimbursement of health care costs continues to decline. As a result, it has become increasingly important for Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics to find alternative resources in order to continue providing high quality care for you and your family.

Our mission is to build a solid foundation for health care in our community through raising, managing and disbursing funds. The Foundation assists the hospital with additional funds for capital improvements, wellness and education programs, and other health-related services.
This year's (2005) fundraising started with a very generous donation of $10,000 from the Joshua Green Foundation, which was a directed contribution from Dee and Charles Burnett, III. Dee is an oncology nurse at Cascade Valley Hospital.
In September, the Foundation held an extremely successful 5K Poker & Paw Walk. Walkers, sponsors and donors helped raise $15,000 at this fifth annual event! Other contributions in 2005 came from the ongoing used cell phone drive, memorials, individual and group donations, in-house fundraising events and employee payroll deductions.

Pediatric patients of all ages now have a variety of things to entertain them, including toys, books, videos and games. Special pictures help make their rooms less like a hospital. These patients also sleep on "kid design" hospital-quality sheets.
When patients need a CAT scan, they will now be gazing at ceiling mural transparencies. Visual Therapy, as it is called, helps patients relax, making the scan easier. When patients are more relaxed, they are less likely to squirm or fidget, helping avoid repeated scans and schedule delays.
Members of the Foundation Board worked very hard this past year to raise these funds for the hospital. However, their success would not have been possible without the incredible generosity of individuals and businesses. Cascade Valley Hospital Foundation has designated a place of prominence in the hosipital's main lobby for a donor recognition wall. It is designed to recognize and express gratitude for the loyalty and generosity of our donors. The wall will be a lasting symbol of caring and commitment, which characterize the Cascade Valley Hospital Foundation.
All donations to Cascade Valley Hospital Foundation go back into Cascade Valley Hospital. Call the Foundation office at 360-435-2133, ext. 4703 to find out how you, too, can donate. When you make a tax-deductible donation, you have the Foundation Board's promise that your dollars will be stretched as far as they can go. Through the efforts of the Foundation members and strong community support, the Foundation hopes to make a difference for Cascade Valley Hospital!
Over the years, other foundation purchases have benefited the departments of oncology, surgery and radiology as well as other areas of Cascade Valley Hospital. A complete list is available at www.cascadevalleyhospital.org/foundation
