CVH Foundation News:
High Tail It to CVH Foundation 5K Poker and Paw Walk Sept. 24

By Joan Miles
Cascade Valley Hospital Foundation Coordinator

Grab your walking shoes, family members and the family pooch, then "high tail" it to the fifth annual fundraising 5K Poker and Paw Walk on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m.

This non-competitive fun walk is for all ages, families, groups and dog breeds. Each walker receives an envelope containing one poker card, collecting four or more (in sealed envelopes) along the route. You and your dog follow a designated course through Arlington, beginning and ending at Olympic Place, a Retirement & Assisted Living Community in Arlington. Refreshments will be available for you and your dog before and immediately following the walk.

This year, walkers are encouraged to put their best paw forward and collect pledges from family, friends, neighbors and colleagues. 100% of donations benefit Cascade Valley Hospital (CVH). Funds raised at the 2004 walk were used to purchase external defibrillators for each of our seven Cascade Valley Clinics.

The three best poker hands receive prizes. The individual raising the most money will have his or her name engraved on a plaque displayed in the hospital and receive a special prize. Last year, Tammy Burke, a CVH employee, received a family membership to the Seattle Aquarium. The team raising the most money will also have its name engraved on a plaque. In order to qualify, pledge forms and donations must be turned in by event day.

Cost
Pre-registrants: $15/person through Sept. 21
Day of event registration: $20/person.
All human registrants receive a specially designed T-shirt and "goodie" bag.

Dogs
$5 for a Poker and Paw 2005 bandana and "doggie" bag.

Are you a cat lover? A $5 donation places your name and/or pet's name on a footprint or paw print card along the 5K course.
