What is 4D ultrasound?
4D ultrasound offers you the opportunity to see your baby more clearly and with more detail than may be evident on the standard ultrasound. 4D ultrasound is 3D in real time. Time is considered the 4th dimension. Instead of a movie of your baby, you will see your baby moving on the screen as you feel him or her moving.
How is the 4D ultrasound different than the ultrasound I had in my provider's office?
4D ultrasound is not intended to replace the medical ultrasound that you may have had in your provider's office. 4D ultrasounds do not provide the medical screening information required by your provider in the second trimester of pregnancy. 4D utlrasounds are intended only for the viewing of your baby.
What is the best time to have my 4D ultrasound?
There is no guaranteed "perfect" time to have a 4D ultrasound. We recommend that you make your appointment between 25 and 30 weeks of pregnancy when we can see more of your baby's features but things aren't yet too crowded. If you are pregnant with twins we suggest coming in between 25 and 28 weeks.
Who do I need to call to schedule my appointment?
You can call 360.618.7848 for additional information.
When can I schedule my 4D ultrasound?
One Saturday each month is designated for 4D ultrasound appointments. Appointments are scheduled between the hours of 9am-1pm.
How much does a 4D ultrasound cost?
Your 4D ultrasound will cost $200.00 plus tax. We will receipt your payment at Registration prior to your exam. Cash, check, Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express are all accepted forms of payment. Because 4D ultrasounds are considered an elective and non-medical procedure they are NOT covered by insurance.
Do I need a referral from my medical provider?
No, a referral is not required, however, you must provide a written note or your medical provider must have provided a verbal authorization to our staff prior to receiving your 4D ultrasound. You must have also already had your second trimester ultrasound as ordered by your medical provider prior to having a 4D ultrasound examination.
What should I do to prepare for my 4D ultrasound?
We recommend being very well hydrated. Water is best as it doesn’t affect the baby as much as drinks containing sugar or caffeine. A small snack before your ultrasound is fine. Please also make sure that you have the required note or verbal authorization from your medical provider.
What can I expect at my 4D ultrasound appointment?
Your appointment will take approximately 45 minutes. You will be able to watch your baby’s 4D ultrasound on a large screen for optimal viewing. The ability to view your baby depends on many factors such as your baby’s position, your baby’s age, the amount of amniotic fluid and the location of your placenta. We are often able to get views of your baby’s face, feet and/or hands. If you wish to know the sex of your baby we may be able to tell you during the exam.
What will I receive at my 4D ultrasound?
You will receive all of the images, videos and pictures taken at your appointment. We conveniently load these onto a CD for you to take home, along with printed pictures. These items will be given to you at the end of your appointment.
