Skagit Regional Health partners with Sound Physicians to provide hospitalist services at Cascade Valley Hospital

Arlington, WA – Sound Physicians, a physician-founded and led healthcare organization focused on improving quality and lowering cost throughout the acute episode of care, began providing hospitalist services for patients at Cascade Valley Hospital, part of Skagit Regional Health, on August 31.

Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics integrated with Skagit Regional Health in June as a key service provider in a system that includes two hospitals and 18 clinics in 10 communities across Island, Skagit and north Snohomish counties.

“Sound Physicians brings the experience and resources to provide the highest level of patient-centered care at Cascade Valley Hospital,” said Jeffrey S. Gibbs, MD, MHA, Regional Vice President of Medical Affairs at Skagit Regional Health. “With a focus on safety and strong patient outcomes, this partnership furthers our mission to bring exceptional patient care to the Arlington community.”

Sound Physicians is employing a team of hospitalist physicians, including a chief hospitalist leader, focused on driving performance improvement and patient satisfaction efforts. Collaborating with the leadership of Skagit Regional Health, including medical staff, Sound Physicians will implement a proven quality performance model designed to improve quality and patient satisfaction.

“We are excited to extend our relationship with Skagit Regional Health into Cascade Valley Hospital,” said Robert Bessler, MD, Chief Executive Officer for Sound Physicians. “Through engaged providers and a focus on performance management, we’re confident that we can achieve our shared goals around improving quality and reducing the cost of care.”

Hospitalists are physicians who specialize in the care of hospitalized patients, offering around-the-clock services for adult patients. Hospitalists work in conjunction with the patient’s primary care physician, notifying him or her of the patient’s admission to the hospital, diagnosis and plans for follow-up care. The hospitalist sends communications regarding the patient’s hospital stay to the patient’s primary care provider, who resumes care of the patient after discharge.
